Alibaba-backed PixVerse Launches Real-Time AI Video Tool, Co-founder Jaden Xie Tells CNBC

PixVerse Sets New Benchmark with Real-Time AI Video Generation

In an exclusive interview with CNBC, PixVerse co-founder Jaden Xie revealed the company’s latest breakthrough: a real-time AI video generation tool that allows users to interact with and control content as it unfolds. This launch marks a significant shift in the AI landscape, moving from static generation to dynamic, interactive experiences.

The Power of Real-Time Interaction

The newly released tool by PixVerse enables a level of control previously unseen in AI video. Users can instruct characters to perform specific actions—such as crying, dancing, or posing—and see the results instantly while the video is being generated.

“Real-time AI video generation can create new business models,” Xie told CNBC. He envisions a future where viewers can influence the direction of a show or play “infinite” video games that aren’t restricted by pre-designed storylines.

Global Leadership in AI Video

While OpenAI’s Sora has defined the “quality ceiling” for AI video, Chinese startups like PixVerse are leading the way in accessibility and speed. According to data from AI benchmarking firm Artificial Analysis, eight of the top ten AI video generation models are now from Chinese companies.

PixVerse’s approach focuses on making video generation a scalable, low-cost, and high-throughput production tool. This efficiency is reflected in their rapid growth:

  • 16 million monthly active users as of October 2024.
  • $40 million annual recurring revenue (ARR) estimated in the same month.
  • Aiming for 200 million registered users in the first half of 2026.

Strong Backing and Future Funding

Founded in 2023, PixVerse has already gained significant investor confidence. The company raised over $60 million last fall in a round led by Alibaba, with participation from Antler. Xie also disclosed that PixVerse is close to completing another funding round, with more than half of the interest coming from overseas investors.

Beyond “AI Slop”

Addressing the industry-wide concern over low-quality “AI slop,” Xie compared the current state of AI video to the early days of computer graphics. He believes that as the technology matures, the “fittest will survive,” and the focus will shift toward meeting human needs for emotional and spiritual value.

For PixVerse, the priority remains technology development. With enough funding to operate for a decade, the company is poised to lead the next era of interactive digital media.
